The IC693APU300 is a high-speed counter (HSC) module that belongs to the 90-30 series PLC platform, previously manufactured by GE Fanuc Automation but recently acquired by Emerson Automation. The HSC module is designed for a variety of processes, but is not limited to turbine flow meters, instrument inspection, speed measurement, material handling, motion control and process control. For metering applications, the HSC module can be used to generate aggregated supply or receive materials that can be used as a reference for billing and payment, or simply to monitor consumption and operational efficiency. For motion control, the module can be used to pair with an encoder to accept high-speed, low-level voltage signals that represent the position or amount of movement of the load and can be used as a reference for control. In material handling applications, the module can be used for rapid counting of products to achieve accurate sorting of the materials and goods produced. With process control, the module can be used to measure high-speed process variables, such as magnetic velocity sensors. The IC693APU300 has twelve (12) positive logic inputs and operates at 5VDC or 10-30 VDC signal voltages. It also has four (4) positive logic outputs that can produce 500 mA at 10-30 VDC, or 20 mA at a rated output voltage of 4.75 to 6 VDC. The high-speed counter module has a maximum count rate of 200 kHz and accepts signal switching frequencies up to 8 kHz. The module is classified as an optional module, so it can be installed in any available I/O slot on the 90-30 series baseplate.

The GE IC693APU300 high speed counter module is a single slot counter module for GE Fanuc. It is suitable for turbine flow meters, instrument inspection, speed measurement, material handling, motion control and process control applications. The main advantage of this counter module is its ability to handle fast signal pulses with rated frequencies up to 80 kHz. The high-speed counter module can sense inputs and outputs and calculate input and output responses without having to communicate with the CPU. The IC693APU300 high-speed counter module can count up and down, and can calculate the difference between 2 changing values. In order to indicate the status of operation and configuration parameters, the top surface of the module has 2 green leds. The IC693APU300 high-speed counter module can be arranged into 4 identical independent simple counters, 1 complex counter and 2 identical independent complex counters. Some of the features of this high-speed counter module include a time-based register count per counter, a detachable terminal board for field wiring, and internal module diagnostics. The module is powered by a 5-volt DC rated bus from the PLC backplane. The IC693APU300 High speed counter module can be installed on any 90-30 series baseboard. Do not install this module in a housing that can only be accessed using tools. If the PLC is not turned off correctly, this module cannot be removed or replaced. It can be configured by using Logicmaster 90-30/20, handheld programmer, Logic Developer-PLC, or VersaPro software. The module can be used in industrial applications where the pulse input rate exceeds the PLC input capability, such as instrument validation, material handling, speed measurement, motion control and turbine flowmeter applications.
