The IC693PBS201 is a Profibus slave module for the 9030 PLC family, formerly provided by GE Fanuc Automation and now part of Emerson Automation. The module can be installed on any 90-30 series baseboard as a remote adapter for their hosted I/O modules, enabling a distributed I/O architecture. It can be transmitted over the Profibus communication network at 9.6 kbps, 19.2 kbps, 93.75 kbps, 187.5 kbps, 500 kbps, 1.5Mbps, 3 Mbps, 6Mbps, and 12 Mbps to the specified Profibus The master station sends and receives up to 244 bytes of input and 244 bytes of output data. The module has a communication interface in the form of two (2) 9-pin D-housing connectors. One port of the module serves as the service port. You can modify the firmware of the module. The other port of the module supports Profibus communication and acts as a Profibus Slave. For module configuration, software requirements include the use of Proficy Machine Edition Logic Developer version 2.6 or later, and the CPU version 8.00 or later must be installed. The module occupies a slot in the baseplate and has a current consumption of 450 mA at 5VDC. It can communicate via Profibus copper cables at up to 1200 meters, and when used with Profibus to fiber optic media converters, it can communicate at up to 6 kilometers. Compatible cable types include Belden 3079A Profibus cable, Siemens 6XV1 Profibus cable series, and Bosch Comment Flexible, Trailing and Massive Profibus cables. For network segments that exceed the support distance, Profibus Repeaters can be installed to increase the data and expand the network segment.

The GE Fanuc IC693PBS201 PROFIBUS DP Slave module card allows the GE Fanuc series 90-30 programmable logic controller to be connected to the PROFIBUS DP network as a slave device, i.e. a secondary PLC that sends and receives data from the network's master PLC. To expand the processing power of the entire system. Users can customize control algorithms and configure programs stored in the slave PLC using GE Fanuc Proficy Machine Edition Logic Developer software 2.6 or later. As with most GE Fanuc 90-30 Series accessory cards, the IC693PBS201 Profibus DP Slave module card can be installed in any GE Fanuc Series 90-30 backboard slot except the first backboard slot reserved for power installation. At 5 volts DC, the typical current consumption of the IC693PBS201 Profibus DP from the module card to the backplane is about 450 mA, and its operating temperature should be maintained between 0 and 60 degrees Celsius for optimal performance. The manufacturer strongly recommends that this communication card be installed in a protective housing to ensure proper operating conditions by controlling the device's exposure to extreme temperatures, humidity or dust. The GE Fanuc IC693PBS201 Profibus DP slave module card does not support synchronous and frozen operating modes because it is designed for a slave PLC that will send or receive data from another PLC (called the master PLC) on request. Firmware updates can be downloaded to the Profibus DP slave module card using the RS-232 serial port located on the back of the IC693PBS201 cover.
