Product Description Bus receiver module

The IC697BEM711 is a Bus interface module (BEM) for rack extension. Specifically, the module is a bus receiver module. Using this module, additional I/O and dedicated modules can be installed and up to seven (7) extension racks can be installed. The module has two (2) communication interfaces, with port 1 used as an expansion port for establishing connections to the CPU or other BEM 711 and BEM 713. The other communication interface is used as an expansion port output to connect to the expansion rack or other BEM 711 modules. The permissible distance between each BEM 711 or BEM 713 is 50 feet or 15 meters. The IC697BEM711 is not limited to rack expansion. Since the data from the incoming and outgoing communication cables are low-level signals that represent data available to the extension rack, system fault isolation can also be achieved. Troubleshooting and maintenance is also simplified because the extension rack can be isolated for troubleshooting. In addition, output hold can be implemented so that the output module of a failed or under maintenance rack can retain individual final states. The module also provides three (3) statistical LED indicators to indicate rack normal, last rack, and bus activity. The module is configured entirely using MS-DOS or Windows programming packages. The last expansion rack must be equipped with a terminal resistor with directory number IC697ACC702. This component is necessary to signal the end of the network and identify the last node of the extended configuration. The module supports a transfer rate of 500 KB/ s and a backplane current consumption of 800 mA.

The IC697BEM711 module is a bus receiver module. Features of the IC697BEM711 module include a high-speed parallel bus expansion interface, support for seven expansion racks, system fault isolation, simple software configuration, and support for maintaining the machine's final state. Three LED indicators on the module provide the status of the module as well as the status of the bus expansion port and expansion status. With the IC697BEM711 module, it is possible to extend up to seven additional IC697 PLC racks using a total of 15 meters of cable. The IC697BEM711 module occupies a slot in the PLC chassis. Two connectors are provided on the front panel of the module: one connector for connecting upstream or CPU racks, and the other connector for connecting to other expansion racks via a Daisy chain arrangement. The IC697BEM711 bus receiver module needs to be configured using Windows or MS-DOS programming software features. The current requirement for the module is 0.8 amps, and the module also requires 5 volts DC input voltage. The expansion interface can transfer data at a speed of 500 kilobits per second. A cable up to 15 meters long can be used with the expansion interface. This module is designed to support the VME standard C.1. Finalizer plugs with catalog number IC697ACC702 can also be ordered when ordering modules. In addition, the following I/O cables can be ordered: 5-foot cable with catalog number IC600WD005A, 10-foot cable with catalog number IC600WD010A, 25-foot cable with catalog number IC600WD025A, and 50-foot cable with catalog number IC600WD050A. Before inserting the IC697BEM711 module into its designated slot, the system power must be turned off.
