The GE Fanuc IC697CPU731 CPU is part of the GE 90-70 series component product line and can be connected as a PLC or programmable logic controller system. It is a single-slot CPU, which means that it only needs to be installed in 1 slot of the PLC baseboard to stay firmly in place and operate properly. The IC697CPU731 CPU is designed to process data received from up to 512 inputs and outputs that can be arranged in any combination. It can also support 8,000 analog I/ OS. The microprocessor used by the CPU is an 80C186 microprocessor with a rated frequency of 12 Mhz. Data and program storage in the IC697CPU731 CPU can be configured by the user.
The GE Fanuc 90-70 Series IC697CPU731 CPU can be programmed via DOS or Windows-based software to control material handling systems and application processes in real time. It uses the backplane of the PLC (which it belongs to) to communicate with the connected I/O modules as well as various smart option modules (if the PLC has one). Some compatible smart option modules include multiple communication modules and coprocessor modules, as well as IC697 LAN interface modules, IC697 discrete and analog I/O modules. The operation of the module can be controlled by a switch, which can be set to 1 of 3 positions, or remotely controlled by a connected programmer and programming software. When the PLC is powered off and its battery needs to be connected to one of the battery connectors, the IC697CPU731 CPU must be installed.
