The GE Fanuc IC697MDL240 discrete input module is a product of GE Fanuc and is manufactured as part of the GE Series 90-70 PLC product line. The input module has 16 isolated input points with a rated voltage of 120 V AC and an input filter delay time of 20 ms. The isolation is designed to enable connections between various AC power supply phases and inputs. It also comes with a reactance input with current-voltage characteristics to support a variety of 2-wire or 3-wire proximity switches. It has an LED on top that indicates the on/off status of the points on the PLC. The IC697MDL240 discrete input module features mechanical keysing for I/O configuration without the use of DIP jumpers or switches.

Configuration of the IC697MDL240 Module is done with Windows or MS-DOS programming software running on Windows NT or Windows 95 operating systems via SNP ports or Ethernet TCP/IP ports. The configuration function of programming software is installed on the device used for programming. The IC697MDL240 module draws 0.25 amps of current from the 5 V bus on the backplane. It also comes with a special mechanical key that has a mounting area to enhance the correct substitution of module types. During the first installation, this mechanical key is bolted into the backplane center rail. When replacing, the previous fit key allowed similar modules to be installed. Capacitive input circuits provide space for heat dissipation and provide a high level of reliability and long service life. In the on state, the typical current is 10 ma, and in the off state, the module can also absorb up to 4 mA of leakage current to the input device.
