1 Requirement Background
Industrial control projects often encounter the need to exchange data between Siemens PLC and AB PLC. However, the communication protocols between these PLCS are not compatible, and direct communication between the two brands of PLCS cannot be achieved. Under this requirement, the data exchange between the two PLCS can be easily realized by using the protocol conversion gateway, and there is no need to change the program in the plc.

2 Working Principle
As shown in the figure below, the gateway device is connected as a bridge between Siemens PLC and AB PLC. The working principle is that the
gateway communicates with two PLCS respectively. Users can configure in the gateway to establish the data correspondence between two PLC devices. After the data changes, the gateway will automatically send the changed data to the corresponding PLC.
3 Device Connections
Gateway and Siemens, AB PLC network cable connection, these devices can be in the same
network segment, can also be in different network segments.
4 Advantages of using the gateway
The conversion between two PLCS can be easily realized by using the protocol conversion gateway. It greatly saves the time cost and
labor cost of the project implementation process. Gateway products are generally
industrial-grade quality, in line with industrial application scenarios. The gateway only requires simple parameter configuration, and the connection between the device and the system can be quickly completed. Advantages of the scheme:
1. No need to modify the program in the PLC.
2. No need to adjust plc parameters.
3. It does not affect the original working mode and function of plc.
4. The register address of PLC can be configured in the gateway to collect data.
