The VMIVME-2540 is one of the specific modules of the VMIC/GE Fanuc board with the function of operating as an intelligent counter controller. The device can calculate up to 4 Giga events. It is equipped with a series of 24 discrete output channels that can be programmed with various onboard jumper module options. These jumpers are capable of operating at a wide range of extreme voltage levels.

The VMIVME-2540 is an intelligent digital input/output board with a VMEbus slave interface that optionally provides 4, 8, 16 or 24-channel digital signal measurement and signal generation. These measurement and signal output functions are implemented by a series of AM9513A system timing controllers (STCS) and associated interface logic. The onboard VMIVME-2540 native CPU (68HC000 microprocessor) executes board functions by providing a command-driven user interface that frees the user from the task of directly programming the system timing controller. Users configure measurement, timing, and output functions for each channel through a simple memory-mapped interface consisting of commands, command status, parameters, and return measurements
