The Allen-Bradley 1756-M02AE is an analog encoder (AE). The module has two axes and an orthogonal position feedback output. The module controls drives or actuators that require +/ -10V speed or torque reference inputs. It monitors the position feedback through the orthogonal encoder input, ensuring that the actuator (motor) follows the profile. It also generates a mock command reference for the drive.

The 1756-M02AE module can be used with multiple orthogonal output rotation and linear sensors. It can be mounted to the ControlLogix chassis, including 1756-A4, 1756-A7, 1756-A10, 1756-A13, and 1756-A17, but it requires RTB or detachable terminal blocks. The 1756-TBCH or 1756-TBS6H RTB are both compatible with this module, and they can be installed in any available slot in the chassis. Before installing the module with RTB into the chassis, ground the chassis and the power supply.

It has a position cycle update rate of 500 microseconds and a speed cycle update rate of 250 microseconds. The drive model time constant is 15 microseconds and the torque ring bandwidth is 106 Hz. The 1756-M02AE module also has an in situ limit switch input, a drive fault input, and a drive enable output. The 1756-M02AE module can be directly connected to three. The servo output type of the module is analog voltage with a range of +/- 10VDC and a resolution of 16 bits. It is used as a speed and torque reference for connecting the servo drive modules. The discrete output channel of the module is the solid state isolation relay contact output. The nominal operating voltage of the output is 24VDC and the maximum operating voltage is 26.4VDC.

It can be installed in standalone or distributed applications, as the module supports all ControlLogix controllers and communication modules.
