Desciption
The 1756-M16SE is an Allen-Bradley ControlLogix SERCOS integrated motion module. The SERCOS interface module is the link between the ControlLogix platform and the intelligent servo drive. The 1756-M16SE is a caseless (open) controller and digital driver interface for fast real-time serial communication via its noise-resistant optical cable.

The 1756-M16SE has 16 axes per module and 32 axes per controller. It has a SERCOS data rate of 4 or 8 Mb/s, a SERCOS cycle time of 1 ms (4 Mb/s), and a SERCOS cycle time of 0.5 ms (8 Mb/s) for up to 4 drives. The control mode adjusts speed, torque and accuracy. The current consumption of the 1756-M16SE is 760 mA (5V DC) and 2.4 mA (24V DC).

The 1756-M16SE interface module uses one digital fiber link, eliminating the need for up to 18 digital wires per axis. The user can send detailed drive status information from the drive to the controller and vice versa. The 1756-M16SE can be connected to the following servo drives: 2093 Kinetix 2000, 2094 Kinetix 6000, 2099 Kinetix 7000 High power servo drive and 2098 Ultra3000 SERCOS servo drive.

Allen-Bradley 1756-M16SE is a Serial Real-time Communication System (SERCOS) interface module. This module is mainly used to connect the Kinetix SERVO drive, Examples include 2093 Kinetix 2000 multi-axis servo drive, 2094 Kinetix 6000 multi-axis servo drive, 2099 Kinetix 7000 High power servo drive and 2098 Ultra3000 SERCOS servo drive. It uses a single digital fiber link, eliminating the need to connect each axis to the module using traditional cabling methods.

The 1756-M16SE supports the integration of up to sixteen (16) servo drives and supports SERCOS data rates of 4Mbps and 8Mbps. SERCOS cycle time varies depending on the data rate used, 0.5 ms for 2 drives; 4 drives 1 ms; 8 drives @ 4 Mbps data rate of 2 ms, 4 drives of 0.5 ms; 8 drives at 1 ms and 16 drives at 2 ms @ 8Mbps data rate. The interface module supports drive control modes such as position, speed and torque.

The slot width of the 1756-M16SE is 1 module. It can be installed in any available slot in the case and is compatible with ControlLogix cases, such as 1756-A4, 1756-A7, 1756-A10, 1756-A13, and 1756-A17. It can also be used in standard or simo ControlLogix configurations and is used with power modules such as 1756-PA72/C, 1756-PA75/B, 1756-PB72/C, 1756-PB75/B, 1756-PC75/B, 1756-PH75/B. It also supports redundant ControlLogix configurations, such as redundant power supplies, including 1756-PA75R, 1756-PB75R, and 1756-PSCA2.

To connect the servo drive shaft, plastic fiber optic cables or glass fiber optic cables can be used. The module has an open housing rating.
