The IC693ALG221 is an analog input module that is part of the 90-30 series Programmable Logic Control (PLC) system. This module is a component module used as an analog input module. The module has four (4) input channels that receive 0-20 mA and 4-20 mA input signals from field equipment and instruments. The module is equipped with an internal analog-to-digital converter (ADC) that enables the PLC to process and further regulate the signal for use in user programs.


The IC693ALG221 has a 12-bit input resolution of 4 μA (1 LSB = 4 μA) for 4-20 mA input signals in each input range and 5 μA (1 LSB = 5 μA) for 0-20 mA input signals. It has an absolute accuracy of 0.1% full scale + 0.1% reading and a common-mode voltage of 200V. In addition, the module has a linearity of < 1 least significant bit and an input filter response of 325 Hz.

The default channel of IC693ALG221 is set to 4-20 mA. When a 4-20 mA signal is received, the module internally converts the signal range to 0-32000, which is a unitless measurement representing the value of the input register. 0 corresponds to 4 mA, and 32000 corresponds to 20 mA. Values in between are also represented in registers, and the measurement point is determined by the resolution of the module. This internal conversion also works in the 0-20 mA input range. The selected input signal type is the hardware that can be removed from the specific terminal configuration in the terminal by shorting the module. Provide range jumpers, one for channels 1 and 2 and another for channels 3 and 4.

The IC693ALG221 4-channel analog current input module fits into almost any I/O rack in a PLC system. In order to provide the operating voltage to the module, the voltage from the power supply is sent through the regulator/inverter. Ensure that all field connections are connected using graded twisted-pair cables to minimize noise and capacitive loads. The isolated +24 V DC power supply provided by the PLC is the main power supply of the module. The IC693ALG221 4-channel analog current input module provides electrical and optical isolation between field wiring and the backplane to eliminate externally generated noise. Before configuring a module for an application, it is recommended to consider the total load requirements of the module as well as the load capacity of the power supply.
