The IC694BEM331 is a GE Fanuc/Emerson PACSystem RX3i Genius bus controller module. Desciption

The IC694BEM331 is a GE Fanuc/Emerson PACSystem RX3i Genius bus controller module. This module is primarily used to allow the RX3i rack to communicate with other controller platforms that use the Genius bus. Such controller platforms can include VersaMax, Genius Block, Genius Handheld Display (HHM), field I/O control stations, remote or distributed I/O racks, and multiple hosts that support the Genius bus.


The IC694BEM331 supports the exchange of up to 128 bytes of data with each Genius-enabled device. It can also send up to 128 bytes of global data for each bus scan. It can also receive up to 128 bytes of global data each time a bus scan is completed. A single RX3i system can support up to eight (8) Genius bus controllers.

The IC694BEM331 has two (2) LED status indicators. These LED indicators are used to indicate the operating and communication status of the module. OK LED activates naturally during normal operation. This LED is off during diagnosis and power-on. COM LED Indicates the communication exchange status between Genius buses. During normal operation, the COM LED is activated. For intermittent bus errors, the COM LED blinks and turns off completely, indicating that the Genius bus is faulty. In addition, the COM LED is not activated when the CPU does not receive a qualified message from the IC694BEM331 bus controller.

The IC694BEM331 supports 153.5Kbaud standard/extended, 76.8Kbaud or 38.4Kbaud transfer rates and can be configured through software. The required bus terminations are 75, 100, 120, or 150 ohm resistors at both ends of the electrical bus cable.

The isolation rating of the GE controller is 2000 V, the isolation rating is 1500 V, and the transient common mode rejection is implemented.
