National Instruments PCI-7811R digital reconfigurable I/O device

The PCI-7811R (Part number: 779363-01) is a digital reconfigurable I/O device from the National Instruments R series. Each module includes a coordinated connector crossover box with screw terminals or link options for adaptable and labor-saving signal wiring. All modules include NI CompactRIO Extreme Industrial certification and rating.

The NI CompactRIO advanced output module connects directly to the RIO FPGA device, creating an elite installation framework that can be fully used for the user's I/ O applications. RIO FPGA devices offer unlimited options for timing, activation, synchronization, advanced waveform generation, or computer communication. For example, the CompactRIO framework can execute a circuit that creates a pulse width regulation (PWM) output for a control engine, heater, or fan, and performs pulse code balanced coding (PCME) for remote telemetry applications.

A client reconfigurable FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) controls the computerized I/O lines. Fpgas on R-series gadgets enable users to characterize the utility and timing of the gadget. Users can use the LabVIEW FPGA module to create custom virtual instruments and download them to the FPGA, thereby changing the utility of the FPGA on LabVIEW's R series gadgets. If the user happens to have only LabVIEW and no FPGA module, the user cannot make a new FPGA Vis. However, users can still control an existing FPGA VI by making a VI or LabVIEW real-time (RT) focus that continues to run on Windows.
