During Hannover MESSE 2024, Siemens demonstrated its first generative AI product for engineering in an Industrial environment - Siemens Industrial Copilot. The generative AI assistant, now available with TIA, helps engineering teams generate basic virtualization tasks and code for programmable logic controllers (PLCS) and automatically handle repetitive tasks, significantly reducing the engineering team's workload while ensuring that complex tasks are error-free, thereby reducing development time, improving quality and productivity.
From concept to scale landing: the first generative AI product for industrial engineering
At Hannover MESse 2023, Siemens and Microsoft jointly presented their vision for a generative AI assistant: integrating automation and process simulation information from Siemens Xcelerator, an open digital business platform, into the Industrial Copilot. At the same time, the large language model in Microsoft's Azure OpenAI service is applied to further enrich its functions, such as enhancing the creation and optimization of code in factory automation software. At the International Industrial Automation and Components Fair (SPS) in Nuremberg, Germany, last fall, Siemens teamed up with Schaeffler to showcase the first generative AI-enhanced production equipment. At Hannover MESse 2024, Siemens officially launched its first generative artificial intelligence product for engineering, promoting generative artificial intelligence from concept to large-scale application.
Siemens Industrial Copilot will empower industrial customers of all sizes to leverage the power of industrial-scale generative AI to transform business operations. Grenzebach Group, a supplier of Industrial automation solutions, is a small and medium-sized company and one of the early adopters of Siemens Industrial Copilot. New features from Siemens Industrial Copilot help engineering
The Siemens Industrial Copilot for TIA Engineering automatically generates code in Structured Control Language (SCL) : TIA gets code suggestions directly from AI, eliminating the need for copy and paste operations. Siemens Industrial Copilot can also interpret blocks of SCL code or guide and easily create virtual machines or factories in WinCC Unified. In addition, engineering teams can search the Siemens manual in natural language. Customers can choose to access a dedicated instance of the Azure OpenAI service that doesn't require retraining models with customer data.
