The IC693BEM330 is a remote I/O scanner module that supports Factory Inspection Protocol (FIP). The module belongs to the 90-30 series Programmable Logic controller (PLC) family, formerly manufactured by GE Fanuc and now owned by Emerson Automation. It is primarily used to implement a distributed I/O architecture, enabling users to communicate with I/O modules away from the host controller. The module supports the FIP I/O protocol and supports 1 MHz data transfer rate. It is equipped with two (2) FIP channels, provided by a 9-pin D-shell female connector. It also has a SYNCHRO connector for terminating the FIP synchronization cable. It requires a paired Molex connector with catalog number #39-01-4031. The module comes with LED status indicators, such as CD1 and CD2, to describe the carrier detection status on each channel. TEN1 and TEN2 are transmission leds that indicate active data exchange on the communication port. IC693BEM330 compatibility is not limited to the 90-30 series, it also supports 90-70 series platforms, field control stations via FIP bus interface units (BIUs), remote I/O branches, and general-purpose devices such as general-purpose and third-party devices that support the FIP communication protocol. The IC693BEM330 can be used to control FIP I/O nesting, scan and maintain timing of discrete I/O, map I/O data to FIP application variables, detect system failures and generate reports, maintain network configuration after power outages, provide flicker and pulse outputs, input filtering, and flutter detection. The module is configured using compatible DOS or Windows-based programming software or via a handheld programmer.
The GE Fanuc IC693BEM330 Remote I/O scanner module comes from the GE series 90-30 PLC series systems. This module provides a way to connect various GE Fanuc intelligent platform modules. The scanner module can only be plugged into slot 1 of any 90-30 series PLC and its function is to send and receive data from other modules connected to the Factory Instrumentation Protocol (FIP) communication network. Up to 19 I/O modules can be connected to the GE Fanuc IC693BEM330 remote I/O scanner module using 2 baseboards with 10 slots each that can be interlinked using extended cables up to 50 feet (15.2 meters) long. The GE Fanuc IC693BEM330 remote I/O scanner module has two 9-pin male D-type connectors placed on the front, where four status leds labeled CD1, TEN1, CD2 and TEN2 can also be found. All modules connected to the scanner use the FIP network to send and receive data and communicate with the system's central processing unit, usually a GE Fanuc series 90-30 PLC or programmable logic controller. The GE Fanuc IC693BEM330 Remote I/O scanner module can be user configured with a proprietary handheld configuration tool from GE Fanuc (sold separately). Any maintenance, repair or troubleshooting of the system should be carried out by a qualified electrical technician according to the instructions provided in the manufacturer's manual. The end user should provide environmental protection, as extreme temperatures may cause the module to behave erratically or fail.
