GE Fanuc IC693CBL316 Serial Interface cable is a serial cable assembly, Designed to interconnect CPU modules and digital servo modules such as the IC693CMM321, IC693CPU351, IC693CPU352, IC693CPU363 IC693DSM302 and IC693DSM314 modules to PCS with RJ-11 communication ports Serial port. All CPU firmware upgrades and programming applications are downloaded from the Loader software on the PC to port 1 of these modules using the IC693CBL316 serial cable. The IC693CBL316 serial cable is also called a "Station Manager cable" because it can be used to connect an Ethernet-enabled terminal or terminal emulator to a Station Manager RS-232 port. For fast access to Station Manager software over high-speed Ethernet without the need for a converter. Other applications include connecting the PC serial port to the RJ-11 panel serial port on the IC693CPU351, IC693CPU352, and IC693CPU363 CPU modules for programming, configuration, firmware upgrade, and monitoring purposes.

The GE Fanuc Series 90-30 IC693CBL316 serial interface cable can also be used to connect the 9-pin serial port of a personal computer to the 6-pin RJ-11 COMM port of a digital servo module (located on the back end) to download motion programs and firmware upgrades. The IC693CBL316 Serial interface cable is a kit that includes a 1 meter (3 ft) serial cable (shielded), a 9-pin D-housing connector, a 6-pin RJ-11 connector, and some mounting hardware. The IC693CBL316 serial interface cable has a 9-pin D-housing connector on one end for connecting to the RS-232 compatible port (called Port 1) on the digital servo module, and a 6-pin RJ-11 connector on the other end for connecting to the serial port on the personal computer.
