The IC697CPU788 module is a CPU module specifically manufactured for Triple Modular redundancy (TMR) systems. The IC697CPU788 module is a single-socket CPU configured with Windows or DOs-based programming software for ESD (emergency shutdown), fire and gas, and other critical control applications. The IC697CPU788 module needs to be used with a set of blocks that enable TMR routines. The CPU module will not work until these blocks are included in the loaded program. Data and program memory are obtained by connecting an extended memory board with up to 512 KB of CMOS RAM backed up by a lithium battery. The operation of the IC697CPU788 module is controlled remotely by software or a 3-bit RUN/STOP switch.

When the switch is in the protected position, the IC697CPU788 CPU configuration can only be changed using a programmer connected to the parallel port. The current requirement for this module (including the expansion memory board) is 1.6 amps. The module is compatible with 5 V DC input voltage. Lithium batteries have a shelf life of 20 years at 10 degrees Celsius, and the battery offers a nominal memory retention of 6 months. Supports up to 352 discrete inputs and outputs and 8,000 analog inputs in simplex mode, and 8,000 analog outputs in simplex mode. The IC697CPU788 module uses an 80386DX microprocessor. The microprocessor has a clock speed of 16 megahertz. The time required to process the Boolean function is 0.4 microseconds. Four status LED indicators provide information about the system to installers and operators.
