GE Fanuc's IC697MEM715 memory module is available in 64 KB, 128 KB, 256 KB, and 512 KB capacities. GE CMOS extended memory modules like this are used for data expansion and to expand the logical memory in the GE 771/772 CPU in the PLC. These modules are also used in programmable coprocessor modules in PLCS. The IC697MEM715 module can be configured for data and program storage and is configured as a daughter board when it is placed in the same slot as the module it runs on. The memory of the base and the daughter board is replenished, and in the case of power failure, the battery on the base housing will retain the memory. The logic program memory checks for errors repeatedly with the checksum routine. When the power is restarted and during a soft or hard reset, the PMC error automatically checks the storage memory.
The IC697MEM715 memory module can run without additional configuration slots. In addition, it can adjust the storage of programs as well as the storage of data. When programmed on Windows operating systems, the IC697MEM715 memory module uses MS-DOS software as configuration software. It comes with a lithium battery that powers the calendar clock. Therefore, in the case of power failure, the lithium battery will still retain the user memory. Battery life up to 10 years. The IC697MEM715 memory module operates well at an average ambient temperature of 20 degrees Celsius or 68 degrees Fahrenheit. With no power applied, it has a memory retention capacity of 6 months.
