Manufacturer: Rockwell Automation
Brand: Alan Bradley
Series: ControlLogix
Module type: Ethernet communication module
The Allen-Bradley 1756-EN2F is a ControlLogix communication module. The module is used to enable remote I/O connections and is capable of acting as a communication adapter and scanner; Allows data exchange between controllers and visual systems such as human machine interfaces (HMI) or supervisory Control and Data acquisition (SCADA), and Bridges Ethernet networks to link messages from different Ethernet nodes.
The 1756-EN2F has a single Ethernet port connected using fiber optics. A physical connection can be established using a multimode optical cable with LC connectors. The fiber port of the module supports 10/100 Mbps transmission speed.
The 1756-EN2F is a single slow width module that can be installed into any slot in the 1756-A4, 1756-A7, 1756-A10, 1756-A13, and 1756-A17 ControlLogix chassis. It is also compatible with standard power supplies such as 1756-PA72, 1756-PA75, 1756-PB72, 1756-PB75, 1756-PC75, and 1756-PH75. It can also be fitted with redundant power supplies, such as the 1756-PA75R, 1756-PB75R and 1756-PSCA2.
The 1756-EN2F supports up to 128 TCP connections, 256 CIP connections, and 128 + 128 CIP unconnected message TCP (Backplane + Ethernet). In addition, it supports socket services and SNMP. The module is also capable of repeated IP detection.
The 1756-EN2F has a current consumption of 1.2 amps 5.1VDC, a current of 3 mA at 24VDC, a power consumption of 6.2 watts, and a heat dissipation of 21.28 BTU/ hour.

The 1756-EN2F bridge also features the CIP safety standard, allowing simultaneous transmission of security and control data as well as diagnostic information. It uses advanced communication chips and physical media. The 1756-EN2F module has an EtherNet/IP communication rate of 100 Mbps and uses fiber optics. It supports 256 Logix and 128 TCP/IP communication connections. It can support up to 8 axes for integrating motion on Ethernet /IP networks. It consumes 1.2 A current at 5.1V DC and 3 mA current at 24V DC. It has a maximum power consumption of 6.2W and a heat dissipation of 21.28 BTU/hr. It can be installed in any ControlLogix chassis slot. In terms of wiring, it uses an unshielded RJ45 Class 5 twisted pair cable connector to connect to the controller. To run an EtherNet/IP network, you must define network parameters such as IP address, subnet mask, gateway, and so on. The 1756-EN2F bridge has several features, such as support for messaging, distributed I/O, and markup. It encapsulates the message in the standard TCP/IP protocol.
