1. Select the input module
The function of the input module is to receive the input signal from the field, and convert the input high level signal to the low level signal inside the PLC. Types of input modules: DC 5V, 12V, 24V, 48V, 60V, AC 115V, 220V. According to different circuit forms, it is divided into two types: junction input type and separated input type.
Note when selecting the input module:
(1) The choice of voltage. Should be considered according to the distance between the field equipment and the module, generally 5V, 12V, 24V is a low voltage, the transmission distance should not be too far. If the 5V module * is not more than 10m, the device that is far away should choose a module with higher voltage.
(2) The number of points connected simultaneously. High-density input modules (32 points, 64 points) at the same time on the number of points depends on the input voltage and ambient temperature, in general, the number of points connected at the same time do not exceed 60% of the input points.
(3) Threshold level. In order to improve the reliability of the control system, the threshold level must be considered. The higher the threshold level, the stronger the anti-interference ability, the further the transmission distance.
2. Selection of output module
The function of the output module is to transfer the PLC output signal to the external load, and convert the low level signal inside the PLC to the external output signal. The output module is divided into relay output, transistor output and bidirectional thyristor output according to different output modes. In addition, the output voltage and output current are also different.
Note when selecting the output module:
(1) Selection of output mode. The price of relay output is cheap, the applicable voltage range is wide, and the on-voltage drop is small. However, it is the original contact element, and its action speed is slow and its life is short, so it is suitable for the load that is not frequently on and off. When the inductive load is driven, the on-off frequency shall not exceed 1Hz. For inductive loads with low power factor and frequent on-off, contactless switching components should be used, that is, transistor output (DC output) or bidirectional thyristor output (AC output).
(2) Output current. The output current of the output module must be greater than the rated value of the load current. There are many specifications of the output current of the module, which should be selected according to the actual load current.
(3) The number of points connected simultaneously. The cumulative current value of the output module simultaneously connected points must be less than the current value allowed through the common end. Usually the number of points connected at the same time should not exceed 60% of the output points.
