The VMIVME-7750 is a single-slot Pentium III SBC (single-board computer) manufactured by General Electric (GE), operating at frequencies up to 1.26 GHz with 512 KB of SDRAM. It features multiple I/O interfaces, including a PMC extension site, dual Ethernet, and up to 1 GB of CompactFlash. Each PLC has a number of dedicated digital inputs for inductive inputs, which are very fast and high-speed in nature. It changes its value 20 times per second (on or off), so the function of these dedicated inputs is to sense these elements. A common digital input like a button or switch has a much lower frequency, which makes it only usable in a common digital PLC input terminal. However, this type of PLC will generally have 3-4 inputs. It defines proximity sensors or laser sensors in this type. To sense such inputs, the counter is used to count the number of pulses received in the assigned fast digital input. This type of counter is called a fast counter.
In addition, the VMIVME-7750 has a number of enhancements, such as 133 MHz front-end bus support and ATA-100 IDE support, enabling it to perform on many of today's desktop operating systems. Such as Microsoft Windows 95, Windows 98SE, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000 and various Linux-based operating systems. It is also suitable for running many of today's embedded operating systems, such as VxWorks, QNX, Solaris, LynxOS, and Microsoft's Embedded Systems.
In addition to the above mentioned features, the VMIVME-7750 has some other important features:
Bootable Flash system: The VMIVME-7750 is equipped with a bootable flash system, which means that it has a built-in boot program that can get the system up and running from the flash memory. This makes the VMIVME-7750 a reliable and highly secure embedded system choice, as it can operate without a hard drive and floppy disk drive.
Non-volatile SRAM: The VMIVME-7750 is equipped with 32 KB of non-volatile SRAM, a special memory that keeps data from being lost after a power outage. This makes the VMIVME-7750 ideal for use in applications where data persistence is required.
Embedded Intelligent VME Bridging: The VMIVME-7750 supports embedded intelligent VME bridging, allowing it to be compatible with the most demanding VME applications. This means it can communicate and collaborate seamlessly with other devices that use VMEbus.
VMEbus Features: The VMIVME-7750 has a full six-line address modifier (AM code) programmable VME data interface with independent hardware byte/word exchange, VME64 multiplex MBLT 64-bit VMEbus block transfer User-configured interrupter User-configured interrupt handler with programmable VMEbus arbitrator in System Controller mode (PRI, SGL, and RRS modes supported) VMEbus The BERR bus error timer (software programmable) accesses local RAM and mailbox registers from the VMEbus. These VMEbus features make the VMIVME-7750 a powerful embedded system controller for a variety of applications requiring high-performance data transmission and control.
National Semiconductor Super Input/Output (SIO) chip: The VMIVME-7750 integrates a National Semiconductor Super Input/Output (SIO) chip to provide the system with a standard floppy disk drive controller, two 16550 UART-compatible serial ports, keyboard and mouse ports, and input/output for universal port system monitoring functions. This makes the VMIVME-7750 ideal for use in applications that require communication and control with external devices.
PCI to VME Bridge function: The VMIVME-7750 also has a PCI to VME bridge function, which allows it to communicate with devices using VMEbus via the PCI bus. This feature is ideal for use in complex systems that require high-speed data transfer and control.
In summary, the VMIVME-7750 has a variety of advanced features and functions, making it a reliable, efficient and highly secure embedded system choice for a variety of applications requiring high-performance computing and data processing.
