At the heart of the XVME-653 module is an Intel 233MHz MMX CPU, combined with 512K synchronous level 2 pipeline cache and up to 256 MB fast page or EDO DRAM.
The module contains a wide range of I/O, including PCI graphics, EIDE and Ethernet controllers, a universal serial bus (USB) port, two high-speed serial ports, and an EPP/ECP parallel port to draw PS/2 style keyboard and mouse ports. Further I/O expansion can be achieved using Xycom Automation's modular I/O carrier module (XVME-976), which provides a mechanism to scale the system using PMC, PC/104, short ISA, or PCI modules.
