IC660BBA021 is a Genius I/O block. The hardware is a resistance temperature detector (RTD) input block that is externally powered by a supply voltage range of 24/48 VDC. This I/O module is equipped with six (6) input channels, and the channel packet consists of three (3) groups of two (2) channels each with an update frequency of every 400 ms, 800 ms, or 1600 ms. The input filter range for each module is 400 ms, 800 ms, 1600 ms.

The RTD I/O module is ideal for temperature applications, as RTD sensors are specifically used to measure temperature. In addition, the I/O module is capable of receiving a range of 0-5000 ohm resistance inputs from sensors and other instruments. The module is compatible with RTD sensors such as platinum, copper and nickel RTDS. It is equipped with built-in linearization and signal conditioning capabilities that enable the module to transmit properly tuned input data in engineering units to the central processing unit (CPU) and report it in one-tenth of a degree Celsius, Fahrenheit, ohm, or count.

Alarm thresholds, Alpha types, and input filtering times can also be configured using the IC660BBA021 Genius I/O module. It is factory calibrated and does not require recalibration during the lifetime of the module. In addition, the IC660BBA021 is equipped with diagnostic functions, including input short circuit detection, internal fault detection, wiring error detection, open circuit detection, out of range and under range input indication, and high and low input alarm. These failures support suppression, which may not be reported to the CPU and therefore will not be forwarded to the CPU diagnostic buffer.

The IC660BBA021 RTD input module is factory calibrated to ensure accurate performance while reducing the need for frequent subsequent recalibrations. It also provides additional features such as alarm thresholds, input filter times, and linearization. The module has a maximum heat dissipation rating of 7 watts. It also has resistance measurement from 0 to 5000 ohms. The module's inputs are updated every 400 ms, 800 ms and 1600 ms. Some diagnostic functions of the IC660BBA021 RTD input module include input short-circuit detection, wiring error detection, and out-of-range and under-range input indications. Users can disable diagnostic messages entered for any selected activity. Disabling diagnostic messages will stop sending messages to the CPU. However, users may still receive diagnostic messages sent to a handheld monitor. During installation, be sure to install the module in the appropriate housing, taking into account the space required for proper cooling.
