The GE Fanuc Field Control IC670CBL002 Base connection cable is an optional 54.61 cm (21 in) cabling used to interconnect GE Fanuc terminals using keyed terminals. It is manufactured by GE Fanuc as an extension kit to solve the common problem of interconnecting 2 terminals that are often further apart on the same switchboard than the terminals in the standard setup. Due to the electrical characteristics of GE Fanuc field control stations, each GE Fanuc field control station is allowed to use only one IC670CBL002 Base Connection cable.
The GE Fanuc IC670CBL002 Base connection cable comes pre-assembled at the factory with a keyed connector designed to prevent misconnections. It can be used to interconnect 2 GE Fanuc terminals with each other, or to interconnect a single GE Fanuc terminal with its corresponding BIO (Bus interface unit). The GE Fanuc IC670CBL002 Base connection cable is equipped with a braided ground wire designed to be used as ESD protection. Both ends of this cable (ground or chassis) must be connected to zero voltage to provide effective immunity to electrical interference or external noise. This 21-inch expansion cable should be installed to avoid interrupting the data flow between modules and to adhere to the connection polarity of each base. If the cable is connected to the top connector of one base, it should be plugged into the bottom connector of the next base.
