GE Fanuc designs and manufactures a solid-state serial interface module called the IC693BEM320 Solid-State Serial I/O Interface Module. It is used for the interconnection of the proprietary GE Fanuc I/O Link network protocol and the 90-30 series or 90-70 series programmable Logic controllers (PLCS). Users can configure this module to transmit 32 or 64 I/O points to the GE Fanuc I/O Link, but only as a slave module, not as a master module. The configuration of the GE Fanuc IC693BEM320 I/O module can be done simply by setting the jumper located inside the front cover to the correct mode, depending on the user's application. There are two serial communication ports in the module, one for RS-485 serial protocol and the other for RS-422 serial protocol.
The operating temperature of the GE Fanuc IC693BEM320 I/O interface module should always be maintained in the range of 0 to 60 degrees Celsius (32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit), and the humidity range is between 5% and 95% (non-condensing). If more extreme environmental conditions are expected, the use of climate control systems on panels fitted with GE Fanuc PLCS and modules is highly recommended. Installation of the module should be done by a qualified technician by sliding the GE Fanuc IC693BEM320 I/O interface module into any available slot on the 90-30 or 90-70 PLC series backplane. There are 2 status leds on the front of the module, one indicating that the module has been turned on correctly and the other indicating when the module is working normally. Up to 16 GE Fanuc IC693BEM320 I/O interface modules can be set up as slave devices to a single master PLC.
