The IC697CGR772 is a hot standby dual-bus central processing unit (CPU) module for Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) 90-70 series platforms. The CPU module was previously manufactured by GE Fanuc Automation, but was recently acquired by Emerson Automation. It is used for applications that require a high availability and fault-tolerant system, because when the IC697CGR772 is paired with another similar CPU, it exhibits bump-free transfer, automatic synchronization, redundant backup communication, one-scan switching, and eliminates a single point of failure. The IC697CGR772 CPU is equipped with an embedded 80486DX4 microprocessor with a clock speed of 96 MHz and a Boolean execution time of 0.4 microseconds per Boolean function. The CPU's built-in memory is capable of handling up to 2048 discrete inputs; 2048 discrete outputs and up to 8,000 analog I/ OS along with 512KB of random access memory (RAM). It is compatible with all IC660/IC661 and IC697 I/O products, enabling a complete and highly flexible automation solution. It supports 32-bit floating point math calculations. The CPU is also equipped with a memory protection switch that, when enabled, prevents modification of memory contents. The IC697CGR772 comes with multiple communication interfaces, supporting point-to-point and multipoint connections. Specifically, it has one (1) RS232 port and two (2) RS485 communication interfaces. All ports support the GE SNP protocol. This hot standby CPU is equipped with battery backup random access memory (RAM) maintained by the IC697ACC701 lithium battery. The lithium battery can be monitored by the module OK LED, and when low battery power is detected, it will not remain on after power-on.
The IC697CGR772 module is a dual-bus CPU module of GE Fanuc. It operates at 96 MHz. It supports floating-point arithmetic and handles complex applications. The CPU is equipped with an 80486 DX4 microprocessor that supports up to 8,000 analog I/ OS. It can compute a single Boolean function in 0.4 microseconds. The IC697CGR772 module uses a battery with a capacity of 512 KB for backup CMOS RAM. The replaceable lithium-ion battery in the module called the IC697ACC701 battery is also used to maintain the date and time of the module. The module is fully compatible with GE Fanuc's IC660 and IC661 devices. The CPU has a manual switching function that enables it to switch between communication modules. The front of the module is equipped with 7 LED indicators for different status and event updates. The scanning time of the IC697CGR772 CPU module is 5.9 ms. The operator can easily change the operating mode using a 3-bit switch. By using 3 ports, the CPU can be easily connected to a personal computer for configuration. Two of the ports are compatible with RS 485 and they are located on the front of the module. It can be easily programmed from MS-DOS programs in the Windows operating system. For network connections, the module comes with an RJ 45 port. The IC697CGR772 CPU module should operate in a temperature range of 0 to 50 degrees Celsius. The module has a rated current of 3.1 amps and a rated voltage of 5 volts DC. Running clock accuracy up to 0.01%.
