The IC697CGR935 is a 90-70 series hot standby CPU from Emerson Automation (formerly GE Fanuc). The controller is designed for use in critically increasing applications where increased uptime and availability are required. This processor is used in conjunction with another IC697CGR935 to form a redundant or hot standby pair. Hot standby or redundancy is achieved by installing a pair of IC697CGR935s. One is designated as the primary controller and the other as the secondary controller. Both are powered on and actively synchronizing user logic. In the event of a primary controller failure, the secondary controller will automatically take over without starting the device, hence the term hot standby controller. With this pair of controllers, users can experience a jolt-free transfer of control from one CPU to another without significant interruptions in the process. The processor primarily features built-in 1 MB of fast memory and I/O memory that can accommodate any combination of 12 K discrete inputs and 12 K discrete outputs as well as analog I/O devices up to 8K. It is equipped with a 96 MHz, 80486DX4 microprocessor with a Boolean execution speed of 0.4 microseconds. It comes with one (1) RS232 serial interface; Two (2) RS485 ports. All protocols supported by serial interfaces are only SNP slave protocols. The controller has battery backup RAM that is compatible with replacement of the IC697ACC701 lithium battery, which has a shelf life of 5 years at 20 C (68 F) and memory retention of 6 months when not powered on. The IC697CGR935 has a current consumption of 3.1A and an operating temperature requirement of 0 to 60C (32F to 140F), 0 to 50C (32F to 122F) with forced ventilation, and 0 to 50C (32F to 122F) without forced ventilation.
The GE Fanuc IC697CGR935 CPU is a CPU with an 80486DX4 processor. It is fully compatible with GE 90-30 series and 90-70 series PLC systems. It is capable of performing floating-point calculations and is widely used in industrial applications. The CPU is programmed using a personal computer with MS-DOS or Windows programming software. It has a power supply voltage of 5 volts. It has a rated current of 3.1 amps. The CPU uses 1 MB of CMOS RAM for processing. The memory is powered by the battery. The IC697CGR935 programmable CPU is equipped with two ports, called ports 1 and 2. The AS693232SNP cable can be connected to either port. The front of the IC697CGR935 CPU has an LED status indicator that emits a steady green light for different events. If the cable is connected to either port, the LED will light up. The left LED in the center indicates the processor's capabilities, and the LED at the bottom shows I/O activity. In addition to these leds, a 3-bit switch corresponding to the LED is also included. In the top position, the switch allows all functions. If the switch is switched to the middle position, all output will be disabled, and when switched to the bottom position, the switch will cause the CPU to exit RUN mode. The IC697CGR935 CPU can only operate in a temperature range between 0 and 50 degrees Celsius. For temperatures above 50 degrees Celsius, a forced cooling method is required. The IC697CGR935 CPU is equipped with an RJ 45 port for networking and communication connections.
