The IC697RCM711 is a redundant communication module (RCM). It is part of the 90-70 series Programmable Logic controller (PLC) family with a high-speed parallel bus expansion interface designed for hot standby and enhanced hot standby CPU redundancy configurations. This module provides synchronization paths and I/O update paths between paired cpus, helping to quickly update and transfer CPU control without interference during switching. The IC697RCM711 is part of a redundant system that typically consists of hot standby series 90-70 controllers such as the IC697CPU780, IC697CGR772 and IC697CGR735. The bus transmitter module with directory number IC697BEM713 and the bus terminator plug with directory number IC697ACC702. The maximum allowable cable distance between each CPU is 50 feet or 15 meters, however, the RC< module can use multiple cables, including the IC600WD005/010/025/050 cable with a length of 5 feet or 1.5 meters; 10 feet 3 meters; 25 feet 7.5 meters to 50 feet or 15 meters. Alternatively, an I/O cable with an integrated terminal resistor can be used, such as the IC697CBL811 with a length of 10 feet or 3 meters or the IC697CBL826 with a length of 25 feet or 7.5 meters. The module has built-in status LED indicators such as OK, Local Ready, Local Active, remote Ready, and Remote Active LED indicators. It has two (2) ports installed, one of which is a virtual port and a communication port that supports connection to the expansion port IN. The module also has a manual pushbutton switch that can be triggered to initiate manual switching from the active module to the standby module.
