MVI46-DFNT is an INRAX client/server communication module. The communication module is compatible with the SLC backplane, which enables the SLC processor to connect to the device using explicit messages over Ethernet /IP. With significant investment in Ethernet /IP technologies in industrial environments, the MVI46-DFNT provides a centralized point to simply connect SLCS to Ethernet /IP networking applications. The communication module can send, read, or write commands to remote devices. MVI46-DFNT uses 20 servers to implement remote interfaces to remote devices. MVI46-DFNT is ideal for food processing, petrochemicals, automotive, and wood pulp and paper manufacturing. The module applies a 5 volt current load of 800 mA to the backplane. MVI46-DFNT has a working impact of 30 G and a non-working impact of 50 G.

The module features LED status indicators that help monitor module status, application status, serial activity, and backplane transmission status, among others. The MVI46-DFNT allows configuration by using an RJ45 RS-232 connector that connects to an RJ45 port available on the module. These ports are used for connecting Ethernet modules, debugging and configuration, emulating channel 0 on SLC, and more. MVI46-DFNT can process up to 100 user commands from one client. The module can be used as a client or server, it supports user definable module memory usage, and it holds up to 4000 SLC registers. To transfer data between the processor and MVI46-DFNT, M0 and M1 files are used.
